Ploughman s egg pasties

Ingredients

  • 1lb/450g frozen puff pastry, thawed (plain or wholemeal)
  • 5oz/150g strong cheddar cheese, grated
  • 3 medium British Lion eggs, hard boiled
  • 2 medium British Lion eggs, beaten
  • 1 slice bread, make into crumbs
  • 2 tbsp sweet brown pickle
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts or sesame seeds to garnish

Preparation time: 10 mins.

Cooking time: 20 mins.

Serves: 10.

Ploughman's egg pasties

Method

    1. Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface large enough to cut out 10x6-7 inch/15-18cm circles.
    2. Mix the cheese, hard boiled eggs, onion, and one egg for filling, breadcrumbs, parsley and seasoning together.
    3. Spoon the mixture evenly into the centre of each round of pastry.
    4. Brush around the edges of the pastry with the last egg, press together and seal well.
    5. Glaze the tops of the pasties and sprinkle on the nuts or sesame seeds.
    6. Place on a lightly greased baking tray and bake at Gas Mark 6/200C/400F for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown serve hot or cold.
